Elastigroups are the new standard of running and managing clusters in the cloud.
The backbone of the Spotinst console, our cluster software based on our prediction algorithm. Elastigroup offers reliable and efficient use of the AWS Spot market and Google Preemptible VMs with 100% cluster availability and 70%-90% reduction in costs.
Elastigroup is deployed over multiple data centers (AWS Availability Zones, or Google Cloud Zones) and purchases capacity from multiple capacity pools, so jobs won't be interrupted. Elastigroup has auto-scaling capabilities, and it scales according to AWS CloudWatch and Google Cloud Monitoring metrics. It can scale manually via UI or RESTful API calls. Elastigroup is designed to run a solid fixed size group of computing resources, ensuring capacity will never drop below the requested capacity. Widely used in Web services behind Load balancers and also compatible with the following frameworks - Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Akka, Mesos, Kubernetes and Docker.
When browsing to the Elastigroup section, you will be able to scroll through your currently active Elastigroups.
- Status - Displays if the group is currently healthy (more than 50% of running instances are currently healthy)
- ID - Elastigroups unique Spotinst ID.
- Name - Elastigroups name.
- Running Instances - Number of currently running instances in your group.
- Region - Which region this group is running in.
- Created At - Displays the date of groups creation.
In the console, click on the Elastigroup icon on the left-hand side menu. On the top left of the screen, you will find the Create button.
Now we will go through the creation wizard setting up the Elastigroup.
